Part-time Temporary Library Assistant, Lake County Library District

The Lake County Library District is seeking a team-oriented individual to fill an immediate opening for the Part-Time Temporary Library Assistant. Under the supervision of the Library Director, the part-time temporary library assistant supports and assists the Library Director in providing library services to the community. Specifically, the part-time, temporary library assistant assists with data entry and processing new library materials for the district, inventory and other detail-oriented work. The part-time, temporary library assistant also performs interlibrary loan duties and performs some circulation and janitorial duties.

Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:

•    Processing new library materials for circulation
•    Performing complex data entry tasks related to library catalog
•    Assisting with inventory process
•    Performing various clerical and secretarial tasks as assigned
•    Processing incoming and outgoing interlibrary loans
•    Following all library district policies and procedures as outlined in the policy
and procedure manuals and job training 
     
Qualifications: Excellent attention to detail, ability to follow directions, very good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills required. Some evening and weekend work is required. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a criminal background check. Significant experience as a reader of books is preferred.

This is a temporary, part-time 20 hr/week position at $14.12/hr. Occasional evenings and Saturdays required.

 Lakeview Library Teen Intern
The Lake County Library District is seeking a teen intern for a part-time/grant funded/limited duration position. The teen intern will work under the supervision of the Library Director and will receive direction from the Youth Library Assistant.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
● Works with mentors and contributes to the design and delivery of a 
       connected learning project. Projects must have a community-facing 
       element and relate to the overall library goals.
•    Provides support for Summer Reading Program
•    Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including        present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.

● Plans and coordinates project milestones and identifies project 
       resources;
● Documents and presents project outcomes and learning;
● Spends time writing about and reflecting on their experience;
● Attends all meetings and training sessions as scheduled;

Qualifications: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. •    Computer Skills: Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to navigate and use the Internet. 
•    Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with people on an individual or group basis. Bilingual (Spanish) fluency is preferred but not required.  
•    Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions. 
•    Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the general public.

Education, Training and Experience:
● Sufficient education to ensure the ability to read and write 
● Live in Lakeview Oregon;
•    Be aged 16-19 by April 1st, 2025;
● Recognized as a high school junior or senior at the time of application;
● Able to lift up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation;
● Able to access reliable transportation to the library
